Past Receipients

In order to qualify for the Peter van Leeuwen scholarship, one should be;

• a scholar interested in doing well in school

• taking at least one Honors class

• a member of the National Honor Society and/or Mu Alpha Theta

or

In memory of Peter as a member of the Bourgade Catholic High School Class of 1984, a child or dependant of a graduate of the class of 1984 may also apply for this scholarship. This may be done prior to their freshman year without the above criteria.

To Apply

• Submit a letter stating why the scholarship should be awarded to him/her.

• Submit a current Resume.

• Include one letter of recommendation concerning the student’s character.

Recipient may reapply the following year(s) if he/she is still a student at Bourgade Catholic High School.

National Honor Society moderator (or counselor) will inform eligible students of the scholarship. (This is usually done in March for the next school year.) If there are more than 5 applicants, the Director of Studies and 2 teachers will preview the applicants and rank the top 5 before giving them to Mrs. Mary Palsma.Final selection will be made by Mrs. Rosalie van Leeuwen (Peter’s Mother) and Mrs. Mary Palsma (former faculty member).
